This battle is real, but it is not undefeatable
Before I leave this world, it matters to me that what I’ve lived through doesn’t fade into silence. I want others to know what I know—not because I believe I have all the answers, but because maybe something I’ve learned can help someone else find their way.
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint" Isaiah 40:31
It’s been over 30 years since being delivered from depression and paranoid schizophrenia. Can you imagine having two mental illnesses at once?
I believe that layers and layers of avoided stress, people-pleasing, acceptance, and the cycle of self-neglect triggered my mental illnesses. Loving others while abusing myself.
The marriage was crumbling before my eyes and so was my mental health. I smiled on the outside, while questioning my worth, and whether I even mattered anymore.
All of this led to a clinical diagnosis of depression and paranoid schizophrenia. Still, if I’m honest, it all began with what felt so innocent, yet carried more weight than I could have ever known.
Choosing to seek help meant confronting everything I'd been avoiding. It meant acknowledging that strength doesn't always look like holding on, but it sometimes looks like letting go. The decision did not fee heroic in the moment, it honestly felt uncertain.
Transforming your mind while navigating mental illness is a deeply personal journey, and healing rarely follows a straight path.
Be gentle with yourself throughout the process.

Father, when I feel weak, remind me that your strength is made perfect in weakness. When I feel overwhelmed, remind me that I do not have to carry every burden alone. Help me to trust you even in seasons I do not fully understand. Lord, guide me through the rebuilding process. Heal the broken places within me and restore the parts of my life that pain, trauma, disappointment, or mental struggles have attempted to destroy.
